A loop of a person’s outline constantly drawing a new version of their outline.
This film is neither a drawing nor a performance. It shifts between categories. The actual boundaries between various media - such as movement, video , animation and projection, which all were involved within the construction of the film - are blurred.
Video is used to capture moments in time - the digital film shows three outlines, one evolving after each other and because of each other. It is about a one-directional process that is taking place again and again.
A person’s outline is drawing a new version of their outline - perpetually reinventing and recreating themselves from anew: The film alludes to the very personal experience of recreating the own identity and oneself when moving to another place. Every time, over and over again. Even though it is surrounding space, or: the change from one territory to the next one, that causes this alteration, any sort of environment is completely blanked out - leaving the screen an empty white screenscape. Actual space, geography has become interchangeable, insignificant, even unreal. The human body as the last real / physical entity:
The human body stands for a physical and actual reference of our position within actualities. Virtualities actualize themselves through the body.
The human body is conceived of as threshold, as a projection surface where the individual projects onto, while interacting with the outside world and outer stimuli. It is treated of as a means of representation - the body is used as a spatial construct, from which different thoughts are distilled:
* The body stands for the space one occupies, for a spatial setting. Space comes into existence by someone inhabiting it, by someone moving through it. If one alters that a little, one might say: space comes into existence through the body. Space and body are mutually dependent: there is space when the body is projected into space and when space is projected on the body.
* The body stands for the individual’s imaginary world. The way one contemplates and sees themselves in relation to the environment affects posture and the way one interacts. The body is conceived of as a screen where the individual projects their most inner wishes onto.
* The body stands for an individual’s tactics while navigating the environment – and its interrelationships with goods and people. The body is seen as an extension to the mind, a machinery, a tool for interaction and to handle circumstances.
